With an average age of over 40 years, the vineyard of La Croix Lartigue is planted at a density of 6 600 vines/ha with merlot and cabernet franc.

This 8-hectare vineyard offers a beautiful mosaic of soils on its favourably-exposed hills.

In addition to its relatively deep limestone soil (more than 40 cm) which gives a very warm and powerful character to the wine, the very specific feature of the La Croix Lartigue vineyard is the presence of a layer of gravels on the surface in the plots located on the south side of the estate.

The interesting feature of this type of soil is its ability to warm up earlier and thus create conditions for fast ripening for this area, which brings additional complexity, especially aromatic, with more intense floral notes.

The beautiful plots of cabernet franc from both the plateau and the south side combined with the most qualitative plots of merlot will produce a wine with structured length and a saline finish due to the limestone soil. The complexity of the wine is intensified by the winemaking process and the pigeage of these particular vats.

At Château La Croix Lartigue, the objective is to produce wines that reveal the energy and the minerality of its terroir and enable Château La Croix Lartigue to become one of the unquestionable must-haves of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.

Sustainable viticultural practices are in place: no use of herbicides; cereals and leguminous plants are grown for a better soil oxygenation and serve as a natural fertilizer.

From the 2020 vintage, the wines of La Croix Lartigue will be certified under the environmental certification HVE3.
