Kavaklıdere Wines, the first private sector wine producer in Turkey, was founded in Ankara, 1929. It has steadily developed to become Turkey’s leading wine producer.
Since 2008, Kavaklıdere has been consulted by acclaimed French vigneron, Stéphane Derenoncourt and his team.
The friendship between Stéphane Derenoncourt and Ali Başman, owner of Kavaklıdere Wines, has helped the company to realise its ambition to become truly an international player in the world wine industry.
In 2016, The French vigneron suggested purchasing Château La Croix Lartigue in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux to Ali Başman. This château was rented by the French vigneron Stéphane Derenoncourt and his two associates Simon Blanchard and Julien Lavenu until 2013.
This investment opportunity for Kavaklıdere in the heartland of Bordeaux, was the first step for the company in becoming a global player in the international wine market.
Since that time new opportunities arose and the company purchased the second château, just located next to La Croix Lartigue, in the same appellation: Château Claud-Bellevue, a château which has also been consulted by Derenoncourt Consultants since 2012.
The very first vintage of Kavaklıdere in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, the 2016, will be on sale in the global market under the brand “MAISON KAVAKLIDERE”.
